Safety Tips for Painting a Fiber Clay Birds Sculpture with Joanie Wolter

“I have already painted this with the black power techs and I’ve sprayed it with the black flat, spray paint outside in my little spray booth outside. What I want to talk to you about before we move on to the actual, painting is the fact that when you’re spraying with it, be cautious about what you’re breathing in.

I have a mask that I used, I put on to kind of filter the air. And if you look at the floor after you sprayed for any length of time, there’s all kinds of spray paint dust on the floor. And if you’re not careful, all that’s going into your one. So I want you to be real careful about wearing a mask.

I keep brushes and I even have a pumice stone in the shower so I can keep everything off my hand anyways, just be cautious. All right. that’s my golden rule of when I’m out there painting.”
