In this course, you’ll learn the principals of mold making using silicone, and casting in resin a tiny ball jointed doll. The student will learn How to correctly use the materials, and how to use the vacuum chamber and pressure pot. I will be making a full reproduction of all the pieces of the doll, a must have class if planning on making your own reproductions! As always with all the tips and insider views of my own experience making molds and casting in resin. It will be another fun class I promise!!

What You Will Learn

Class 01:

  • About the instructor
  • Materials needed and tools
  • Finishing the doll in order to be cast in resin
  • Closing all holes in doll with removable clay
  • What is the silicon for mold making?
  • Types of silicon and how to use.

Class 02:

  • The concept of how to correctly make a complex two parts silicon mold
  • Head: Preparing the pieces to be cast
  • Building the support walls and setting in place the pieces to be cast
  • Preparing the silicon materials in order to be mix and pour.

Class 03:

  • Mix and pour the silicon on the piece
  • Body: Preparing the pieces to be cast.
  • Build up a wall for the chest part (that will be a two part mold)
  • Prepare silicon material.
  • Pouring silicon on pieces. Let everything set.

Class 04:

  • Mix and pour the silicon on the piece
  • Body: Preparing the pieces to be cast
  • Build up a wall for the chest part
  • Preparing silicon material
  • Pouring silicon on pieces. Let everything set.

Class 05:

  • prepare head piece to have its second part molded with the silicon.
  • Apply release agent to piece, prepare and mix silicon and pour in place.

Class 06:

  • Body: By now the body molds are set, prepared the chest part to have its second part molded
  • Setting mold release. Prepare – mix silicon and pour in piece. Let all set

Class 07:

  • Arms and legs: Demonstration of how to set the pieces in order to be molded.

Class 08:

  • Demolding all the original parts.
  • Preparing to cast the resin.
  • Set molds with agent release. Prepare resin – mix and pour in molds
  • Cleaning and Aesthetic work on resin cast pieces.

Class 09:

  • Explanation on how to care for resin, tips for painting and finishing.
  • Explanation about the use of machines for the silicon and resin in order to avoid bubbles and have professional quality dolls.

Bonus Classes

  • Giving a face-up painting to resin head
  • How to give color to resin
