About the course

Learn how to weave this delightful condo with the fairies and gnomes as close neighbors! The house can be made in many sizes and shapes, the one pictured is a large one. The front doors are made using polymer clay as well as the roof of the house.

The windows in the doors glow in the dark, making it look like someone is home. The doors are attached to the outside of the basket and the roof comes off, revealing a basket that can be used for a lot of things!

Learn how to make a solid base that is woven, starting a basket with triple twining, making hills and valleys around the side, ti-twining with the seed stems, adding in new finishing spokes from cane, matchstick border to finish. The sides are approximately 7" before they start sloping in with seed stems (palm inflorescence). 4.5" by 8.5" is the base size. What fun to combine baskets and clay, the possibilities are infinite!

The doors and roof will be covered in a bonus class as the basket itself is very nice!

About The Instructor

Cheryl Dixon

I am from Lafayette Indiana and still live there! I have always loved different types of arts and crafts. I get that from my Mom. But after making my first basket in 1984, I was hooked for life. I started selling my baskets at our local basketry shop, which is very rare. It used to be difficult to find basketry supplies, let alone classes, so I was so lucky that we had the Weaver’s Mill, otherwise I likely would never have learned. I then started teaching at the shop and eventually ended up owning my own store, The Basketworks after the owner moved away. I have taught in many states at conventions, retreats, and wherever there are people who want to learn! I also teach 4-H classes and it is my hope that by doing classes now with Curious Mondo that it will benefit teachers and students alike all over the globe.
