About the course
Even if you've never woven anything before, you can be weaving on an inkle loom in almost no time. I'll explain what an inkle loom is, how it works and what you can make with it. I'll show you what yarns and threads to use, how to make your heddles, how to warp your loom and get started weaving. You'll learn basic tabby weaving as well as some more detailed techniques, and you'll learn how to read, understand and even draft your own designs. Last, I will show you how to finish off the bands you make, and a number of uses for them. So grab your loom and let's get started!
About The Instructor
I love to make things. I'm fascinated when I see some new kind of craft I haven't yet discovered, and usually want to give it a try. Needless to say, I have a home and studio rather overflowing with art and crafting supplies of all kinds. Aside from creating things, I love teaching others to create things as well! Nothing gives me greater pleasure than getting someone without any hobbies, hooked on something brand new to them.
For about as long as I can remember, I have been making things. In the art field, I do a lot of colored pencil art, watercolors and pastels. I also quilt, do all kinds of needlework, and I love to weave. All kinds of weaving, from multi-shaft floor looms to pot holders! I've been weaving for close to 40 years, and have helped numerous people to get started in the rewarding field of weaving.
Then there is the area of polymer clay - I have countless things from polymer clay, including over 2,000 dolls and an entire city street with buildings and apartments for them to live in. Polymer clay is amazingly versatile, since there is really no limit to what can be made from it, and I never tire of trying new things. As long as there are crafting supplies around, I'll keep making things with them!
I have won numerous awards, for polymer clay creations, colored pencil artwork and watercolors.
I wrote several books on making polymer dolls, painting crafts, and selling crafts.
I teach several classes in fiber arts at our local art center, including inkle loom weaving, bead weaving and felt applique.
