How to Make a Signature Cane with a Glass Torch!
Free LIVE Training w/ Jodie McDougall
This Course Has Been Canceled.
About the course
In this course we will explore the ins and outs of creating canes, with a glass torch, depicting the alphabet. The student will learn to create several letters and then assemble them into a larger cane of their initials. Theses skills can translate into eventually creating words in glass. A simple signature cane is a wonderful permanent way to sign your work as a glass artist.

About The Instructor
Jodie McDougall
Jodie McDougall is a multimedia artist currently residing in Bountiful, Utah. She first started melting glass when she wanted interesting eyeballs for a Koi Fish Tiffany Lamp. A friend suggested that she buy a torch and she was instantly hooked! After several years of playing in her basement and making glass beads a love of cane work quickly emerged. She closed her massage practice of 18 years and devoted her life making murrine. Murrine is the time intensive practice of creating miniature pictures in glass by sculpting 3 dimensionally for a 2 dimensional image, similar to how a picture is created in old candy or taffy. In 2011 a hobby of playing with fiber emerged from learning to process wool, spin, dye, felt, and weave. It eventually lead to a marriage of the two crafts through glass buttons. She has taught across the United States. Her work is in collections and museums around the world.
