Learn how to make beautiful and creative fused glass art using bottle glass, molds and a kiln. Bottle glass is an inexpensive alternative to art glass that is also great for the environment. This fused glass course will take you through the absolute basics, including what tools you’ll need, all the way through multiple, increasingly complex projects. In this fusing glass course we will cover making fused glass art from whole bottles, two ways to cut bottles, how to make sheets of glass from cut bottles, fused donuts, fused bottle bottom molds with embellishments, kiln formed recycled glass beads and jewelry, Fuse and Fold animals-including two exclusive designs available only through this course. We will also explore how firing schedules work, what is happening at each stage and how to adjust your firing schedule. We will spend time reviewing common glass fusing problems and how to solve them.
“So the first thing I want to do is correct this angle. So I’m going to pull out a little bit of the red to start with, and I’m going to get up on the tip of my brush so that I can get a fine line. And I’m using my floppy brush. That’s the official term for it. It is a floppy brush and I’m just going to bring that down to a point. And remember, I like to mix my colors on the page. So I’m going to neutralize that with the blue. Hopefully at the end, no one, but us will know. And a mistake in the beginning, unless you look really close, it is it’s apparent. So it’s going to show that line because what a color is a transparent medium, which is both, it’s most a desirable trait and it’s most frustrating trait all at once. I’m just going to correct that angle to my satisfaction. And then I’m going to caress that out. I really want a good clean edge. So that’s an important feature.”
“Let’s now combine that to create another technique here that where you over lap, the paddles. So for the inside one, I want to have seven beats in my center, 3, 6, 7, or about half an inch. You would be right with either and you’re going to loop that like we did at the beginning. And you pinch, so you don’t have wire showing. And twist twice. For this one, we want three rolls of wrap around. So this is the first time we, we are doing the three roles, this course, three and four, the inside of my rows. I want, three rows, three paddles. So I have to do three more, two more. So again, same number or half an inch. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.”
